sentimental is the word of the day. today is my little guy's first birthday--I absolutely cannot believe it. all I can think about is what I was doing exactly one year ago at this very minute. much more needs to be said about that, but it will be in another post, another day, after his birthday party is this saturday, and his one year old photo shoot is later this week. my little man is getting so big.
on another, much less sentimental note, I'm fully recovered from the swine flu. that's right. the swine flu. so if you're wondering where I've been for the last couple weeks, the answer is in bed. literally. thank goodness for the most amazing friend in the whole world, and the best husband ever, or I don't think I would have survived.
now to this gaggle of photos. editing these is making me long for the beaches of virginia beach. when the G20 Summit came to town, we skipped town. the day before the summit commenced, we called up some friends, booked a hotel, and made plans to leave the next day. it was the perfect escape. we had sunny skies, rainy skies, and cloudy skies, but we were just happy to be with each other.

sand sculpting contest:

that's right, it's been mack all along. he's all powerful.
this is purely to show you the scope of these sand sculptures. they were amazing.
the little ones discovered that sand is fun. looks like we'll have to take another beach trip soon.

That looks so fun, makes me want to take a trip! Glad you are feeling better, no fun being sick, especially with a babe to take care of!
Oh no, I had no idea your were sick. So sorry! I am glad that you are feeling better and that you had some good help to help you through it.
Love the pictures. the only time I actually went close to the beach you were at, there were about 40,000 people stuffed on it. I should go take a visit now that nobody is there.
Madi and mack are so cute together! and they looked like they quite enjoyed the sand.
And what do you mean mack is one!! I can't believe it. Happy birthday Mack.

i can't believe you had the swine flu, i had no idea. i heard you weren't feeling good, sorry, i would have offered to help out. next time call me!!!
Needless to say, after my car dying in the middle of Waterfront today that was just what I needed. I love the one of Mack peeking through the sand sculpture and that we are forcing our children to like each other:) Call me if you need help with the birthday festivities. We are excited!!
Happy Birthday Mackers!! Can't wait to see/hear about his day(s) of celebration! They only turn one once!
Glad your beach trip was fun. Those are amazing sculptures... I'd love to see how they make them!
Holy crap you had swine flu!? I thought that was a farse? Right Mel? So sorry you had to go through that but glad you're back blogging again. It makes me happy looking at your pictures! What a fun trip with friends.

Really, the swine flu? That's crazy! Not fun...glad you had help. Happy b-day to Mack! I can't believe it's been a year.
I love your pictures of your time at the beach. I'm sure you're glad you skipped the craziness of the G20 summit. The beach is always a good place to head--whether crowded or secluded.
Libby! I'm so sorry to hear that you had swine flu...we're going through that at our place right now.
Happy Birthday Mack!
I love the photos from your trip to the beach. Makes me totally wish we lived near the ocean!
I think Melanie scared me because I am paranoid about the swine flu. And you got it!!! I am so sorry. But I am so glad you didn't die. :)
And now that you are feeling better. . . on to ORLANDO!!! :)
I love all the pics. And Mack and Maddie do look good together. Their kids will thank you later. :)
Those sand sculptures are amazing! Happy Birthday Mack!

What happened to the pictures? They aren't on the blog.
The pictures came back. Good lookin'
a.) Libby, you are one of the most talented photographers I know.
b.) I would SO be willing to send out an old photo on our Christmas cards if it meant I could have you take new gorgeous family pictures for us in December when you're here.
c.) would you actually have the time, energy, and desire amidst the family and holiday to do family pictures for us? or am I kidding myself? :)
d.) if you said yes to the above (I can't believe I'd be that lucky) how much do you charge for family shoots?
Little Mack is such a heartbreaker. I can't believe he's one, really I was shocked when I read that. I love the pictures of him and Madi on the beach. young love :)
But on to what's really on my mind, what the crap? You had the swine flu! You must email me more details, how bad was it, do you know where you got it (on the plane back from Orlando, right!!!!!), etc. I just got my vaccine for it last night but I'm still uber worried....I have a hard enough time breathing with this big baby in me as it is......
Those sand sculptures were amazing! I'm glad your all better.
oooo... I keep checking for some Halloween/bday party action.
